Man Charged With The Murder Of William Chaplin After Decade-Long Hunt

A Queensland man has been extradited to NSW and charged with murdering William Chaplin, who vanished nearly a decade ago.

Chaplin was 25 when he was last seen in Gerogery, north of the border town of Albury, in May 2010.

Detectives arrested a 25-year-old man in Townsville on Thursday morning and were granted permission to extradite him on Friday.

The Townsville man was flown to Sydney on Saturday and charged with murder, police said.

He is due to appear in the Central Local Court on Sunday.
