Man Caught Allegedly Kicking Helpless Dog Until It Vomited

A man has been caught allegedly assaulting a dog in a violent rampage.

A member of the public noticed a man with a dog in Marrickville in Sydney's Inner West on Thursday. The witness watched as the man apparently kicked the dog and beat it with a stick as it lay helpless and injured on the pavement.

The images of the alleged incident, as well as what appears to be the dog's vomit, were shared in Facebook group 'Pound Patrol' along with an urgent call for information.

"He was seen kicking the sh*t out of the dog and hitting it with a stick causing the dog to vomit and poo itself," the Facebook post claimed.

Group members were also assured the witness who took the photos attempted to intervene and save the canine but was unable to stop the man as he fled the scene.

On Friday morning, police and RSCPA inspectors attended a Sydenham address and charged a 51-year-old man with an aggravated act of animal cruelty. He's due to appear in court on September 19, 2019.

The dog is now in the care of RSPCA veterinary staff.

The Facebook post has been shared over 2,600 times and has attracted 1,200 comments. Most people were simply outraged with the apparent behaviour of the man in the photos, with some calling for the dog to be found and removed from the man for its welfare.

"I just don’t understand how you could treat anything with emotion this way. I feel physically ill," one Facebook user said.

"Makes me feel sick when I read something like this," another comment reads.

"Looks like a staffie as well.....they are such sensitive souls at the best of times," someone else wrote.

"I will take the dog home & smother it in love," another person commented.

The RSPCA have been contacted by 10 daily for comment.
