Alleged Drunk Driver Falls Asleep After Crashing
Police were called to the scene of the crash in northern Sydney after concerned passersby noticed the man was asleep behind the wheel.
The driver was travelling in Riverstone on Wednesday at about 12.45pm when he allegedly mounted the curb before coming to a stop.
NSW Police allege the man then fell asleep while still in the car after crashing.
Concerned members of the public contacted police after they saw the man asleep behind the wheel.
When police arrived at the scene, the man woke up and tried to drive his vehicle on the footpath, before being stopped by police.
He was breath tested, and returned a positive result. He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he recorded a blood alcohol reading 0.261.
The man's licence was suspended and confiscated on the spot, and he was issued with a court attendance notice for High Range PCA.
He will face Blacktown Local Court on August 12.
