55 People Charged After Drug Busts In Affluent Sydney Suburbs
Fifty-five people have been charged after police seized a wide variety of illicit drugs and a whopping $63,000 in cash.
The people were charged in relation to alleged supply and distribution of cocaine and other illicit drugs across Sydney.
Police investigations started in September 2017 to determine sources of continued cocaine supply across the city. The investigation reached a crescendo over six nights in May, where multiple drug seizures occurred.
Strike Force Northrop in conjunction with Surry Hills, Sydney City, Kings Cross, Eastern Suburbs and Eastern Beaches Police Area Commands, and the Dog Unit seized 290 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of MDMA, 110 grams of cannabis and $63,000 in cash.
Dozens were charged in relation to the alleged crimes including 28 people with drug supply and 27 people with drug possession.
The seizures occurred across the eastern-Sydney suburbs of Bondi, Paddington and Coogee between May 10 and May 24.
But Police aren't finished just yet. Redfern Region Enforcement Squad Commander Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bell called for members of the public to report people supplying drugs to authorities as their investigating continue.
“Strike Force Northrop detectives will continue to investigate and target those in the community that continues to participate in illegal drug-related activity,” Bell said.
“These illicit substances are incredibly dangerous, and we will do everything we can to remove them from the streets of Sydney."
