'Bad Santa' Caught Setting Fire To High-End Brothel
Late in the evening on Christmas Day, 2016, a man dressed in a Santa suit set fire to the rear entrance of a high-end Sydney brothel and promptly scarpered.
Now, almost two-and-a-half years later, detectives have released the CCTV footage in an effort to catch their "bad Santa".
Dressed in what appears to be grey track-pants, red t-shirt, Santa hat and a fake white beard, the not-so-jolly Father Nick is seen walking determinedly down Sparks Street in the inner western suburb of Camperdown, a plastic drum in each hand.
About half an hour later, according to the time stamps, he comes sprinting out the back entrance of the Stiletto brothel, smoke billowing out behind him.
"While inside, the man allegedly stole a number of items, including a sum of money, and proceeded to pour an accelerant around the premises before setting it alight," police said in a statement.
"A crime scene was established by officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command and an investigation was launched."
The culprit has never been caught, and now police are hoping CCTV footage will help bring the man to justice.
Thankfully, no one was inside at the time, according to news reports from 2016. The business was closed for Christmas Day.
Stiletto Brothel -- which bills itself as "the most erotic bordello experience in the world" -- has been contacted for comment.
