Man Grabs Kid By Throat, Throws Scooters In Skate Park Incident
Dramatic video has been captured of a grown man pushing children, grabbing one by the throat, and throwing their scooters at a NSW skate park.
In the footage, the man -- appearing to be middle-aged -- stands up from his seated position on a wall on the edge of a skate park. He walks over to one boy, appearing to be aged around 10, and immediately grabs him by the throat.
Another half-dozen young boys stand around, watching and yelling.
NSW Police said they were investigating the incident in relation to an assault, which they reported occurred around 5.30pm on Sunday.
The man wrestles the boy's green scooter away from him, pushing the boy away, and then charging at another boy. The man appears to use the stolen scooter as a battering ram, pushing the second boy into a skating pool behind him.
The man then calmly walks to the edge of the skate park and hurls the scooter away toward a nearby road.
It is not known what sparked the incident, but the boy who was pushed into the pool appears to have yelled something at the man at the beginning of the video.
Footage of the incident -- in the suburb of Goonellabah, near Lismore, on the NSW North Coast -- was posted to a local community Facebook group on Wednesday.
"Police have been told a group of 12-year-old boys were at a skate park in Goonellabah when they started to verbally abuse and threaten another 12-year-old boy," police said in a statement.
It has been reported that the youths chased that boy away from the skate park, before he returned "with a man, believed to be his father, where the boys have taunted him again."
"The man allegedly assaulted one of the youths and threw his scooter. Officers from Richmond Police District were notified and commenced an investigation."
