Man Charged With Murder Over Shooting Death Of Sydney Soccer Player

Police have charged a man with murdering a soccer player at a Sydney unit block after the alleged gunman turned up at a hospital with a bullet in his stomach.

John Odisho, 25, was shot at a Five Dock apartment complex about 3.45am on Tuesday and later died in hospital from his injuries.

Another man was shot in the shoulder and has since been released from hospital.

NSW Police believed the attack was targeted and started searching for two men seen running from the complex after the shooting.

About 15 minutes later a 28-year-old man arrived at Auburn hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Detectives on Thursday charged the man with murder, shooting with intent to kill, special aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence.

Soccer club Parramatta FC paid tribute to Mr Odisho, describing the attack as "horrific" and his death as "devastating".

The accused gunman remains under police guard in hospital. His matter is expected to be mentioned at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.

A manhunt continues for the second man seen fleeing the complex.
