Suspected Love Triangle Ends In Tragedy Following Axe Attack

A man has been charged with murder following the death of another man at Cabramatta West.

The 59-year-old victim was found by officers with a wound on his head and died at the scene.

Emergency services had been called to Sydney Luker Road, Cabramatta West about 8.45pm on Thursday after initial reports of a 'motor vehicle collision and two men fighting'.

At first, it was thought to be a road rage incident.

Police will allege the 75-year-old man hit the 59-year-old man with his car, then leapt out and repeatedly struck him with an axe -- killing him.

10 News First spoke to the partner of the 59-year-old man, who was distraught. She told 10 News First the 75-year-old man was her former partner.

The 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene and an axe was seized.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for an unrelated medical condition.

He was released from hospital and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with murder.

The man was refused bail to appear in court on Friday.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
