'She Was Living Her Best Life': Sister's Emotional Tribute To Murdered Dentist
The family of murdered Sydney woman Preethi Reddy has issued a heartbreaking statement following her death.
Preethi's sister Nithya paid tribute to her older sister, whose body found by police in a suitcase in the back of her car.
"Words cannot capture the pain we are feeling with the passing of my beautiful big sister," Nithya said in a statement.
"Preethi was a bright light; loveable, kind, and protective of all whom were lucky enough to have been loved and cared for by her."
Nithya said the circumstances surrounding her sister's death have shocked her family. Police are still investigating Preethi's final hours of life and her eventual murder. Police allege her ex-boyfriend Harsh Narde killed her on Sunday and then dumped her body.
Narde died in a fiery car accident on Monday after being questioned by police. It's believed Narde deliberately crashed his car.
"Prior to this unthinkable event, she had been the happiest I’d ever seen her -- she was living her best life," Nithya said.
"On behalf of my family, I want to thank anyone who shared our appeals to find her, and those who provided information to the police and us over the last few days.
"While we now know that Preethi is no longer with us, the certainty of her movements on Saturday night and Sunday morning are not yet fully known, and we will stay in touch with detectives as they work it all out."
Nithya also thanked the media for its assistance but reminded reporters that speculation about Preethi's death will hinder police conducting a proper investigation.
She also said the family needs time to grieve and will not be doing media interviews.
"We ask that everyone keep that in mind that we are grieving and we need space to do that. Finally, let the police do what they need to do to solve this horrific tragedy. Our family will never be the same without Preethi our lives," she said in the statement.
"Please let her beautiful soul Rest In Peace."
On Wednesday night, Preethi's partner also issued a statement, expressing his grief at losing his girlfriend.
"I'll see you again one day... and we'll continue where we left off my angel," he wrote, with an emoji of a heart alongside a picture of the pair on Facebook.
On Wednesday, police passed their condolences onto Preethi's family after news of her death broke.
"It is the toughest thing you can ever do. I've got goosebumps right now talking about it. As a parent, the worst thing we can do is bury our kids... It's a space none of us want to be," a police representative said.
Police investigations into Preethi Reddy's death are continuing.
Details of Preethi's funeral service have not been released.
