Aspiring Rapper Arrested Over Death Of Aiia Maasarwe
Aspiring rapper Codey Herrmann has been named as the man arrested over the murder of international student Aiia Maasarwe.
Local police working with homicide detectives arrested Herrmann in the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Greensborough about 11.20am on Friday.
"The arrest follows an extensive investigation into Aiia’s death following the discovery of her body near Main Drive and Plenty Road," Victoria Police said in an earlier statement.
"Police would like to thank the public for their assistance with the investigation."
Ten days ago an eerie post appeared on Herrmann's Facebook page, under the name 'Kody Wrex'.
"International girl Of mystery You knows who you are," the post said.
Hours after Maasarwe's body was found, Herrmann posted a photo of himself as a baby and another of him holding a can of Jack Daniels.
"b4 An afta," it was captioned.
Herrmann has not been charged with any crime.
Hundreds attended a vigil for Maasawre on the steps of Victoria’s parliament on Friday night.
