Two Men Posing As Ride-Share Drivers Sexually Assault Woman In Melbourne
Police are hunting two attackers who posed as ride-share service drivers to lure a woman into their car before sexually assaulting her in Melbourne.
The 19-year-old had been on a night out with friends in the city on July 29 when she was approached by two men in a car under Queens Bridge about 3.30am.
The men told the victim the mid-2000s Toyota Yaris Hatch was a ride-share vehicle.
She was then driven to Albert Park where she was sexually assaulted.
"This is atrocious behaviour," Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Glen Warren said.
"She is doing as well as can be expected. It's a very difficult thing to get through."
The woman managed to escape by punching one of the men in the face before alerting police.
The men are described as being of Indian or sub-continental appearance and aged between 25 and 35 years old.
Police have released CCTV of the car on the night as well as images of a man who is believed to have spoken to the woman earlier that evening.
There is no indication he was involved in the incident.
