Police Release Footage Of Men Behind Sydney Roofing Scam

Police have released footage of a group of men believed to be behind a series of roof repair scams in Sydney's west less than a week after a 90-year-old woman was fleeced of a small fortune.

The elderly woman was approached by a group of men at her Burwood home who offered to fix her roof for $169,000.

She paid them but when they came back and asked for a further $220,000 to be transferred her bank notified police.

Scammers struck again on Friday afternoon when they told two Milperra residents they were tilers and could repair their roof.

The residents paid the four men part of the money but became suspicious and asked to cancel the job.

The dodgy roofers refused to give back the money and left. But one of the residents noticed the remainder of the money had been taken from her wallet.

Dashcam footage, released by police on Monday, shows the men working on cars in front of a house.

All four men spoke with Irish or English accents, NSW Police said Investigators believe the four men from the Milperra theft are behind the roofing scams reported at Burwood and in other nearby suburbs.

The financial crimes squad's commander Linda Howlett vowed last week to find the people responsible.
