VIDEO: Man Run Over By Alleged Carjacker Stealing His Van
A man has been charged with a string of offences following a crime spree, including carjackings and a police pursuit in Melbourne.
Dramatic scenes caught on CCTV, obtained by 10 News First, show a man attempting to save his van from the alleged carjacker in Dandenong South.
The 40-year-old man can be seen being thrown from the vehicle and flung under the front wheel, sustaining head and leg injuries.
Police were first called to a two-car crash on Eastlink, near Bangholme Road, about 3.20pm on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old driver of one car was uninjured while the other vehicle and occupant fled.
Police allege a 35-year-old driver then forced his way into a car stuck in traffic on Greens Road, before stealing the van in a second carjacking.
The stolen van allegedly evaded police for some time before officers started a pursuit.
It collided with a silver hatchback in Dandenong about 8pm. The driver was arrested at the scene.
He was charged with a string of offences including three counts of reckless conduct endangering life, aggravated carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle and failure to stop for police.
The 35-year-old was remanded to appear in court on Wednesday.
