Police Shoot At Armed Man In A Sydney Park
A police officer has fired a shot at a man in Sydney's inner-west after reports he was wielding a knife.
Officers were called to Marrickville Park just before 3pm on Sunday after reports a man was armed with a knife, NSW Police confirmed to 10 daily.
Upon arrival officers confronted the man and a shot was fired, though no one was hurt, according to police.
Witnesses have reported seeing up to a dozen officers at the scene, located at the corner of Livingstone Road and Frazer Street.
The man was taken to Newtown Police Station after being assessed at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Initial inquiries suggest the incident is mental health related, police said.
A crime scene has been established and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
