Father Charged With Murder Over Death Of Baby Found On Beach
The father of a nine-month-old girl found dead on a beach has been charged with her murder.
The 47-year-old man was arrested on Monday in Queensland, after the girl was found on a Surfers Paradise beach early that morning.
He was extradited to NSW on Wednesday, where he was charged with murder.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Tweed Heads local court on Thursday.
The body of the young girl was found on the Gold Coast beach around 12:30am on Monday morning. Emergency services crews declared her dead at the scene.
"It will be alleged in court that the child died in NSW," NSW Police said in a statement.
Strike Force Palua was established in the wake of the girl's death, with detectives from the NSW homicide squad, local officers, and specialist detectives from Queensland.
