Alleged Jarryd Hayne Sexual Assault Victim Was Bitten, Required Medical Treatment
Details have emerged about the alleged sexual assault of a woman by NRL star Jarryd Hayne.
The out-of-contract player handed himself into police on Monday in relation to allegations made against him by a 26-year-old woman, who claims Hayne sexually assaulted her on September 30.
A police source confirmed to 10 daily Hayne is alleged to have bitten her.
She is said to have suffered "significant" injuries to her genital area and was left with scarring after being treated in hospital.
The pair had initially communicated via social media before the alleged attack, which police say happened at the woman's home in the NSW Hunter Region.
Hayne was charged with “aggravated sexual assault causing actually bodily harm to the victim” in the early hours of Tuesday morning, an offence which carries a maximum of 20 years jail.
Nine hours later, Hayne was released on strict conditional bail.
While reporting to police for the first time on bail since being charged, the 30-year-old stayed silent as he faced a barrage of questions from waiting journalists. It is not known whether he will fight the charge.
Under the terms of the bail, Hayne must report to Castle Hill police station every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 8am and 8pm.
He was also forced to surrender his passport, provide a $20,000 surety and stay away from airports, and the entire city of Newcastle -- the alleged victim's home town.
He will face Burwood Local Court on December 10.
