Three Teens As Young As 13 Charged After Police Chase, Alleged Crime Spree
Three teenagers as young as 13 years old have been charged following an alleged crime spree which ended in a pursuit in Sydney's Inner West.
Police chased what is believed to be a stolen Volkswagen Polo GTI on the M5 Motorway on Tuesday afternoon after it was found in Dulwich Hill.
Ending the chase over safety concerns, a POLAIR helicopter tracked the car down to an address in East Hills where three boys, aged 13, 14 and 16, and a 13-year-old girl were arrested.
Police had been hunting the teenagers for the past week over a series of armed robberies and a stabbing in Zetland, Chippendale, Stanmore and Leichhardt.
Three of the group -- the 13-year-old girl and two boys aged 13 and 14 -- have since been charged with several offences including stealing a motor vehicle, robbery armed with offensive weapons and failing to stop in a police pursuit. The 13-year-old girl was also charged with breach of bail.
The 16-year-old boy, who was injured while trying to evade police, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition under police guard.
The charged teens were refused bail to appear at a children's court on Thursday, with further charges expected to be laid.
