Nurse ‘Slashed’ By Patient At Western Sydney Hospital
It is alleged the man became agitated while being treated, before attacking the nurse caring for him.
A man is under police guard at Blacktown Hospital accused of stabbing the nurse who was caring for him.
The 47 year-old had been admitted for treatment when he became agitated.
Police said he was erratically walking between patients’ rooms and taking photos on his mobile phone.
He is alleged to have walked into the staff room and grabbed two knives from the kitchen.
Not knowing he was now armed, his diligent nurse tried to usher him back to his room and it is alleged he then attacked, her slashing her wrists and clothing.
He has been charged with wounding with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He remains at Blacktown Hospital under police guard awaiting surgery to his hands.
Police told reporters he is known to them.
The nurse involved has received treatment for her wounds and is understandably shaken by the ordeal.
