Man Charged After Allegedly Pouring Beer Over War Memorial

CCTV also captured a man sticking a cigarette in the rifle of a statue in Martin Place.
A man has been charged after allegedly pouring beer over a war memorial in Sydney's Martin Place.
CCTV caught a man defacing the Martin Place Cenotaph at about 9.30pm on Thursday.
It's alleged the man removed flowers from the wreath and placed them in the soldier's hands, placed a cigarette lighter in his left arm and a cigarette on the rifle, and poured beer on his feet before walking away.
A 43-year-old man was later arrested and charged with committing an offensive act on a war memorial and willfully damaging or defacing a protected place.
He's been granted conditional bail and will appear in court in September.
