NSW Police have released incredible CCTV footage that captured the entire incident in full.
The trio have been charged after a stolen luxury sports car was allegedly rammed into police cars in the CBD, leaving two officers injured.
Police said the silver Mercedes AMG, which was stopped in Alexandria on Wednesday, is believed to be linked to violent robberies including one which involved a sword in inner city Sydney.
Multiple witnesses told how they watched the drama unfold.
"There was a guy just down near the bins and he was like 'I'm spitting on your face now' and he spat on the police officer" a witness told Ten Eyewitness news.
" It was good to actually see them get the bad guys, and they were really happy about it too" another witness said.
The high-end car, which was carrying four young people, reversed into one of the police cars injuring a female officer, police said.
A dog unit, arriving on scene, was also hit leaving a male officer with lacerations to his arms and legs. He was treated at the scene.
The injured female officer was taken to St George Hospital with a minor laceration to her head, she is now recovering at home.
Police believe the car is linked to a series of robberies in Sydney which saw a woman allegedly assaulted on an Ultimo street before her laptop was stolen on July 24.
The silver AMG, similar to the one used in that robbery, was then allegedly involved in a bag snatch a short time later at Pyrmont, investigators said.
