Manhunt Underway For Two People After Teenager Stabbed

The 16-year-old is in a stable condition after being stabbed in Sydney's inner-west.

UPDATE: A teenager is in a stable condition in hospital, after undergoing surgery for stab wounds.

The 16-year-old boy was stabbed in a car park on Darling Street, Balmain, at about 7pm on Thursday.

He and a 14-year-old boy had been at a supermarket nearby when they were confronted by a man as they exited the business.

After a verbal confrontation, the man stabbed the teenager before leaving the scene with a woman.

The teenager was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital by ambulance in a critical condition with stab wounds to his upper body.

NSW Police has established a crime scene, and are looking for the man and woman -- who are not believed to be known to the teenager -- who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described as being Caucasian appearance, about 180cm to 185cm tall, in his mid to late 20s, with a medium build, fair complexion, ginger hair and who spoke with an Australian accent. He was wearing a red jacket and dark coloured pants.

The pair were last seen heading toward Palmer Street.
