WATCH: Woman's Miraculous Escape After Crashing Into Parked Car
First responders were shocked to find a 26-year-old woman unharmed after the vehicle she was driving launched into and flipped a parked car in Melbourne last night.
Burwood resident, Eric Ansell, was among the first to respond after hearing a loud band at about 10:30pm last night.
“I was expecting someone had crashed into, maybe the tree or the fence or something like that. I didn’t expect them to have launched and managed to flip another car and, to be honest, be completely okay," Ansell told 10 News First.
Aware of fuel spilled from the collision, Ansell rushed to the woman’s aid and called the authorities as neighbours watched on.
“A lady was in the car, airbags deployed. The car was propped up and the parked car had turned over.
“That was probably the most shocking part, she was completely unharmed... I was able to talk to her and contact the authorities.”
Police, fire and ambulance responded to the scene and believe the green Honda hatch-back travelling south on Renown Street crashed into the van parked on Leonard Street.
Ansell said the vehicle narrowly missed a home.
“So, a lady’s just come down that street… managed to go pretty much onto the nature strip, through the brick fence and has hit the parked car which has essentially propped her car up.”
The Bayswater woman was taken to hospital for observation and police investigations into the cause are ongoing. No charges have been laid.
“It was not your usual night, a little bit louder than I’d like but otherwise I’m glad everyone’s okay,” Ansell said.
