Police have released CCTV images after three cop cars were torched outside a station in Perth overnight.

10 News First understands a man was seen walking away from Fremantle Police Station, allegedly holding a tin right in front of four CCTV cameras.

Vision captured at the scene shows the cars badly charred, with extensive damage to the hoods of the vehicles.

On Monday, WA Police released a statement saying the cars were "doused in an accelerant and set on fire" at about 11.10pm Sunday night.

“The three vehicles were destroyed by the fire," the statement read.

No one was injured in the incident and the station remains open.

Police released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

WA Police Commander Greg Knott confirmed no arrests had been made by Monday afternoon, but issued a warning to those responsible.

"(I'm) very confident. If that person is watching this now, I would encourage that person to surrender to police because we will find you," he said.

"It is only a matter of time."
