Mother And Her Partner Charged Over Young Girl's Alleged Murder And Torture
A Queensland couple is in police custody after being charged with the murder and torture of a young girl who had been missing for more than two years in the state's Western Downs Region.
Police have charged Tane Saul Desatge, 40, and Sinitta Tammy Dawita, 28, with the murder and torture of Kaydence Dawita Mills, and of interfering with a corpse.
10 News First understands the two charged were the girl's mother and defacto partner.
Police have been investigating the disappearance of toddler Kaydence since November 2018.
The Chinchilla girl was born in September 2014 but last seen in 2016.
As part of the investigation, police excavated the backyard of the home in December.
A new crime since was established on Monday at the Chinchilla Weir, as police searched the banks of the Condamine River.
Chinchilla residents told 10 News First they were rattled by the death of the young girl.
"I've got a daughter who is the same age as she was when she died and I just think it's devastating," local resident Ashleigh Wicks said.
Desatge and Dawita did not appear in court on Monday, with their case due to return to Dalby Magistrates Court on June 30.
