Wife Reveals Last Words To Husband As She Held Him While He Died
Father of two James Hargraves died in the arms of his wife, who told him how much she loved him before he died in a tragic crash in South Australia.
The young dad from New Zealand was killed after a tourist bus collided with the car he was in. His wife Jess and two children survived.
The family had been spending a weekend in Kangaroo Island in February before the accident.
The 36-year-old spent his final moments lying in Jess' arms, metres from his children.
"I had 20 minutes holding him and telling him how loved he is and that we are okay," she wrote in a heartbreaking post on Facebook just days after the tragedy.
"We are in a state of shock, disbelief and absolute devastation."
James youngest child Edward will be renamed to commemorate the life of his slain father, Jess said.
"For those who know him well, you will know that James was the most hands-on father out there."
"He died way too young and at the peak of his life."
His funeral was held in Adelaide on Tuesday, with Jess telling mourners the "terror" of the accident would haunt her forever.
"However he knew his little family were okay. We were there with him. He knew he was loved so deeply by everyone."
The pair met in Hong Kong in 2010 when James moved there, according to NZ Herald.
Next month would've been their fifth wedding anniversary.
Jess said walking away from the car last week, "everything flooded from me except my love for him and the kids. Nothing else matters."
Police said no charges have been laid against the driver of the bus who had made "no error" in the crash.
In her post, Jess said despite "incorrect media reports" the crash was "not Jimmy's fault".
