Two New Coronavirus Cases Diagnosed In Australia

Victoria and Queensland have each confirmed a new case of coronavirus, bringing the nation's total to nine.

Queensland's Health Department confirmed a 42-year-old woman, a Chinese national from Wuhan, has tested positive to novel coronavirus on Thursday.

Dr Jeannette Young, QLD Chief Health Officer, said the woman was a member of the same tour group as a 44-year-old man who tested postive to coronavirus on Wednesday.

Victoria's Department of Health and Human Services confirmed also confirmed on Thursday a Chinese woman in her 40s, a visitor from Hubei province, is in a stable condition with the respiratory illness.

Victoria Health confirmed all close contacts of the patient have been identified and contacted.

"The patient was not symptomatic whilst in Melbourne, however given recent evidence regarding potential of transmission in the 48 hours prior to symptom onset a precautionary approach is being undertaken," it said.

Victoria's first coronavirus case was recorded on January 25, with a man aged in his 50s treated in isolation at Monash  Medical Centre.

A man in his 60s who returned to Victoria from Wuhan was confirmed to have coronavirus on Thursday.

"The department is monitoring five close contacts who live with the man. Two of the contacts are children who have been excluded from school," Victoria Health said.

"The man attended a restaurant called The House of Delight, at Level 1, 52 Montclair Avenue, Glen Waverley, between 5.30pm and 7pm on Sunday 26 January 2020."

NSW Health confirmed there are four cases in the state, with two patients have been discharged, a 53-year-old male and a 35-year-old male.

Two patients remain in hospital, a 21-year-old female and a 43-year-old male.
