Man Charged With Intentionally Lighting Fires In NSW

A man has been charged with deliberately lighting two fires on NSW's South Coast and recklessly allowing them to spread.

Police were first alerted of a fire on the side of the Princess Highway in Burrill Lake on Wednesday afternoon after a passerby saw a man emerging from smoky bush land.

Fire and Rescue NSW was called and extinguished the blaze after a couple of fires. It's believed the fire burnt close to 50sqm.

A 48-year-old man was later arrested at a home in Canberra Crescent in Burrill Lake and then taken to Ulladulla Police Station.

As well as the fire in Burrill Lake, police will allege the man also intentionally lit a fire in November 2017.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Milton Local Court in March.
