Man Airlifted To Hospital In Induced Coma After Jet Ski Refueling Explosion

A man has suffered serious injuries after an explosion at a busy camping area north-west of Sydney on Friday afternoon.

It's believed the man, 36, was refuelling a jetski when the explosion occurred at Wisemans Ferry on the Hawkesbury River.

Bystanders rushed to help the man and placed him under a shower before providing first aid.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and Careflight's Rapid Response Helicopter were called to the scene and treated him for serious burns to his upper body and airways.

In a statement, Careflight said he was intubated and placed in an induced coma to stabilise him.

The man was airlifted to Concord Hospital's burns unit in a serious but stable condition.
