Body Found In NT Weeks After Trio Went Missing
A body found by police is believed to be missing woman Claire Hockridge, who vanished in the Northern Territory outback weeks ago.
Hockridge was travelling through the outback with two others when they went missing.
NT Police said in a statement on Wednesday that a body had been found south of Alice Springs. The body is believed to be Hockridge.
Police have yet to conduct a formal identification and will prepare a report for the coroner.
Hockridge's travel companions, Phu Tran and Tamra McBeath-Riley, were both rescued separately in the past week.
The trio was stranded after their ute became bogged just outside of Alice Springs.
Nearly a week later the group decided to split up after running out of food.
McBeath-Riley stayed at the waterhole, while Hockridge and Tran headed north towards the Stuart Highway.
McBeath-Riley survived for 10 days by drinking water from the watering hole, while Phu Tran was found on a remote cattle station by a local pastoralist two days later.
