Elderly Woman Rescued From Hoarder's Home After Being Trapped For Hours
An elderly woman has been rescued from a hoarder's home in Sydney's south-west after reports she was trapped for almost 15 hours.
Police were called to a home in Canley Vale on Monday morning following reports a woman in her 60s was trapped inside, a NSW Police spokesman told 10 daily.
"We attended, assessed and called NSW Fire and Rescue to assist in removing her," he said.
Fire and rescue crews arrived at the home on Delamere Street after receiving the call just before 10am, a spokesman for Fire and Rescue NSW told 10 daily.
When crews entered the home, they found a large amount of storage inside.
"The woman had been trapped within the building by some falling materials and was unable to get out," the spokesman said.
He said there were reports the woman had been inside the home since 10pm on Sunday, but could not confirm how long she had been trapped.
"It could possibly be as long as that," he said.
Crews worked to reach the woman, and to clear her head and upper torso.
According to Fire and Rescue NSW, paramedics also used hydraulic equipment to relieve pressure from a door that was pressing onto her leg.
Crews worked for about two hours to safely retrieve the woman before she was taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution.
Police are unaware of any criminal activity, and said the matter was a fire and rescue operation.
It's unclear if the trapped woman was the resident of the home.
