Police Officer Responding To Emergency Injured In Crash

A NSW police officer on his way to an emergency incident has been injured after the car he was travelling in was hit by another vehicle in Sydney's south-west on Saturday.

Two officers were travelling on Belmore Road in Punchbowl at around 1:40pm when their car was hit by another vehicle turning onto the same road.

The crash caused the police car, which was travelling with its lights and sirens on, to crash into a parked truck nearby, police said.

A male officer suffered injuries to his head and was taken to St George Hospital for further treatment, but his condition is unknown.
