Teen Dead, Three Others Critical After Car Slams Into Tree

A 17-year-old is dead and three other teenagers are in hospital after a horror crash in Cowra in the NSW Central West region.

The four teenagers were travelling along Darby Falls Road, near Porters Mount Road in a Holden sedan on Sunday, when their car left the road, crashed into a tree and rolled, police said.

Emergency services were called to the crash just after 3pm, but were unable to save a 17-year-old male passenger who died at the scene.

Three other teenagers, aged between 17 and 19, were removed from the vehicle and were later airlifted to hospital.

All three remain in critical conditions in hospital.

The driver, an 18-year-old male was taken to Liverpool Hospital. A 17-year-old female passenger was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and a 19-year-old male passenger was taken to Westmead Hospital.

Police have established a crime scene as investigations begin into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The crash has also caused road closures in the area. Darby Falls Road is closed with eastbound traffic being diverted to Camp Road, while westbound traffic is being diverted to Jukes Lane.
