Queensland Police say a body has been found in dense bushland during the search for missing teenager Michael Ryan.

A body believed to be that of a 14-year-old boy missing in the Sunshine Coast hinterland has been found.

The body was found on Wednesday in dense bushland in Dularcha National Park, police said.

Formal identification is yet to be finalised.

Police believe it is Michael Ryan, 14, who was last seen in Landsborough on August 7.

"Our thoughts go out to Michael's family and friends as well as everyone involved in the search during this difficult time," they say in a statement.

The search had been focusing near where the teenager's bike was found on Saturday in bushland near the small town of Mooloolah Valley.

The bike was found close to the spot where his mobile phone last recorded a signal around the time he vanished.

Police will now be preparing a report for the coroner.
