Details Emerge From Tradie's Tragic Death Down Ventilation Shaft
A construction worker who died after a fall at a site in Sydney's west has been identified as 38-year-old Mohamad Riche.
Emergency services were called to the Jordan Springs site just before 12.30pm on Wednesday, following reports a worker had fallen five storeys.
Richie tripped and fell down a 30-metre ventilation shaft, reports the Daily Telegraph. He had been working on the roof to remove building material when he tripped, a co-worker told the publication.
He was found dead when paramedics arrived, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson told 10 daily.
Paramedics had to abseil to reach his body, which wasn't removed until about 5.30pm that day.
Workers were seen sobbing onsite in the wake of his death.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious, but SafeWork NSW is investigating the incident. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
