Fears Held For Missing Fishermen As Search Enters Third Day

The search for two fishermen missing in Moreton Bay off Brisbane is expected to continue on Tuesday.

Fishing gear and a semi-submerged boat belonging to the pair were discovered at Green Island, several kilometres offshore, on Sunday.

Carwyn Massey, 25, and Timothy Maher, 31, last contacted their family at about 10.15 pm on Saturday to say they were coming home from the weekend fishing trip.

But they never arrived, triggering a search involving 20 vessels.

Their car and boat trailer were discovered at the Whyte Island Boat Ramp.

Two helicopters were involved in an aerial search, while 14 State Emergency Service personnel searched St Helena Island and Green Island, near the mouth of the Brisbane River.

Police on Monday night said the search would be scaled back when conditions became too dark and they were likely to continue their search on Tuesday if the men were not found.
