Girl Dies In River Drowning After Going Missing From Boat
A young girl has died after being pulled from the Hawkesbury River in a critical condition, after it was thought she fell from a boat.
The girl, believed to be about three years old, was reported missing near Brooklyn -- in Sydney's upper north shore -- around 12.45pm on Tuesday.
She was located in the water by Marine Area Command officers a short time later, who commenced CPR.
She was taken ashore where NSW Ambulance staff continued CPR.
She was airlifted shortly after to Westmead Children's Hospital in a critical condition. But just after 4.30pm, police advised the child had died.
"She was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition but was pronounced dead after arrival," NSW Police said in a statement.
The incident is being investigated by Ku-ring-gai police and Marine officers.
"A crime scene was established and officers from Marine Area Command are investigating the matter," NSW Police.
