Search For Missing Fisherman Lost In Treacherous Seas Suspended
The search for a rock fisherman who was swept into a notoriously treacherous sea cave where the NSW Central Coast borders with Lake Macquarie has been suspended.
The 62-year-old was fishing with another person when he was swept off rocks into the water and then sucked into the cave before 10.40am on Sunday at Snapper Point, in the Frazer Park area.
The man was believed to have been wearing a life jacket, a statement from the Westpac rescue helicopter service said.
A multi-agency search operation commenced on Sunday including NSW Police officers, divers, water police and PolAir, as well as NSW Surf Life Saving, Westpac rescue helicopter and volunteers from NSW Marine Rescue.
The search has been suspended with no sign of the man, a NSW Police spokesman told AAP just after 7.15pm on Sunday.
The search operation will resume on Monday.
