Trump Sledged The ABC By Mistake And Got Trolled In Return

Australia's ABC has returned fire against President Donald Trump with a koala GIF, as an unlikely social media war heats up.

The American president gave a lengthy interview to his country's ABC News, which was broadcast in recent days as a program called '30 Hours'. In response, Trump has shot out several tweets since the weekend, calling them "fake news" who "try to dissect and distort every word in as negative a way as possible".

The only trouble is, he sent his criticism to the wrong outlet, mistakenly mentioning the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's @ABCNews handle instead of the American Broadcasting Company's @ABC account.

Trump posted, then deleted, one tweet on June 16, later re-posting the same message but with the correct handle.

On Tuesday, he took aim at the ABC interview again, alleging: "For the record, I didn’t spend 30 hours with @abcnews, but rather a tiny fraction of that. More Fake News" -- but made the same mistake, sledging Australia's ABC by accident.

Having been referenced in many thousands of replies to both tweets over the course of several days, it seems the Australian broadcaster had enough, replying to the President with a GIF of a koala wearing glasses and drinking from a mug.

People were loving it.
