Out-Of-Control Bush Fire Blazes In Perth's Southern Suburbs
A bushfire emergency warning has been declared as an out-of-control blaze shuts the Kwinana Freeway in Perth's southern suburbs.
The fire was reported at about 9.30am local time and has already burnt through more than a hectare of land.
There are six firefighting units fighting the blaze, which has been called "erratic" by Emergency WA.
The warning is for people in an area bounded by Bertenshaw Road, St Albans Road, Folly Road, Young Road, Doghill Road and Kwinana Freeway on the eastern side of Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis in the city of Rockingham.
The warning level means there is a "threat to lives and homes", and people in those areas need to "act immediately" to survive.
The BP twin service stations on the Kwinana Freeway have been evacuated.
A witness has said traffic is at a standstill from Mortimer Road through to Baldivis on the Freeway.
There is a total fire ban in place along the west coast, including Geraldton, and from Perth down to Mandurah.
More to come.
