The Irresponsible Spelling Mistake On The New $50 Note
Is there a typo on the new $50 bill? You can bet your bottom dollar there is.
An extremely eagle-eyed Australian has managed to notice one of the biggest typos in the country written in the smallest print.
A listener of Triple M's Hot Breakfast morning show called in to point out that on the new $50 bill, which was put into circulation in October last year, has the word 'responsibility' spelled wrong.
It appears in an excerpt from a speech by Edith Cowan, who appears on the note, located to the left of her portrait.
You would be forgiven for mistaking the text as shading, given just how tiny the words are.
The word is spelled "responsibilty" a total of three times by 10 daily's count, missing the third "i".
You can check for yourself if there's a magnifying glass handy.
The Reserve Bank Of Australia is aware of the mistake.
"The spelling will be corrected at the next print run," a spokesperson said in a statement.
So, if you happen to have a fresh fifty in your wallet right now, hold on to it -- it's a collector's item now. But who is to be held responsible?
