Popular Dog Food Recalled Over Plastic Fears
An Australian pet food company is recalling a batch of its popular dog food over fears it may contain plastic.
Mars Petcare Australia issued a product recall alert on Wednesday for a "limited number" of 'MY DOG Beef & Liver 100g 12 x Pack' products which may have mixed with plastic during the production process.
"The only product affected is batch code 84901WOD51 with a best before of 06 DEC 2020," the company said, warning those batches should not be sold or eaten.
"The health and well-being of Australian pets is our number one priority, and while we have not received any reports of injury or illness associated with the affected product, we believe it is the right thing to do to recall it."
Consumers who have bought the affected product are urged to discard the food or return it to the retailer for a full refund or exchange.

"We understand that this recall may be concerning for pet owners," the company said.
"However no other MY DOG varieties or batches are affected by the recall, and owners will still be able to find unaffected product on shelf."
Individual trays and six-packs of the product are not affected. If consumers disposed of the box and believe their trays came from a 12-pack, they're urged to check the best before date on the side of the tray for a '061220' date stamp.
