Scuba Diver Killed In Water In Speedboat Hit-And-Run

Emergency services have been unable to save a 20-year-old diver who died after being hit by a speedboat in waters off Frankston in Melbourne's south-east.

The injured diver and his dive partner, who was uninjured, were picked up by a passing boat and taken to the Frankston Pier on Sunday afternoon.

Police said the pair were in the bay between Frankston and Mornington just before 1pm, when the 20-year-old diver was struck by a speed boat.

Paramedics desperately tried to save the diver and spent some time performing CPR, but he sadly died on the pier.

Police are now hunting the driver of the speedboat who did not stop to help after the incident.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

More to come.
