An Emergency Search Is Underway For A Missing Man In Victoria

An emergency search is underway for a man who was swept off the rocks while fishing near Bridgewater Bay in Victoria on Wednesday night.

Police said the 53-year-old man was crab fishing with a 44-year-old female friend near Back Beach in Blairgowrie when they were swept off a rock at 8pm.

The woman managed to swim safely back to shore and alerted emergency services.

The man has been missing for more than 16 hours.

Police and Coast Guard volunteers have combed surrounding beaches and water, but the search is still continuing.

Officers reignited the search early Thursday morning with assistance from the Water Police, Air Wing and Search and Rescue.
