Real Estate Agency Apologises For Viral House Ad: 'We Missed The Mark'
Real estate company LJ Hooker has apologised after a marketing video for one of its listings went viral.
The video, which features dancers making their way around a luxury home in Sydney's southwest, was filmed to sell the listing.
"In this property market you need something different to make it stand out," the property's real estate agent Sam Nader told 10 daily.
But after the video went viral on Wednesday, LJ Hooker has stepped in on behalf of the Bankstown franchise.
"LJ Hooker Bankstown is always looking for new ways to market our listings; however, this time we missed the mark," the company said in a statement to 10 daily.
It also claimed that some had taken the video 'out of context".
On Twitter, the video was widely mocked, with one person describing it as "the most real estate agent video I've ever seen." Author Benjamin Law said it was "breathtakingly horrific it borders on art".
"We understand that our recent video circulated on social media promoting one of our listings may have been taken out of context by some and for this we apologise," LJ Hooker said.
While the Padstow listing can still be seen online, the video is no longer available.
"We have removed the video from our digital and social media channels," LJ Hooker said.
