Grandmother Sits On Chunk Of Ice For Photo, Accidentally Floats Out To Sea
Dubbed the 'Iceberg Queen', a grandmother got a little more than she bargained for after taking up her icy throne.
While posing for a photo on a chunk of ice, Texas woman Judith Streng found herself accidentally floating out to sea.
Catherine Streng shared photos of a conversation with her dad, who was keeping the family updated on her grandmother's 'adventure'.
"Lost her kingdom when she drifted out to sea!" Catherine's father wrote in a message.
"No joke. A coast guard rescuer had to save her and bring her back to shore!"
The throne-shaped iceberg had washed up on Diamond Beach in Jokulsarlon, Iceland, where the 77-year-old was holidaying.
“When I got on it, it started to totter and a wave was coming in,” Streng told ABC News.
“A very large wave came in and kind of made the throne kind of rock, and I could tell that I was slipping off.”
Luckily, the grandmother was rescued by a boat captain from Florida who happened to be nearby.
Photos of the incident quickly went viral online, collecting nearly 70,000 retweets since Tuesday.
“You know, I always wanted to be a queen. I mean, come on, that was my chance," Streng said.
And it made for a particularly ~cool~ photo, didn't it?
