'Quite An Undertaking': Truck Carrying Coffins Rolls Over On Freeway

A truck carrying coffins has rolled over on the Federal Highway in NSW's Southern Tablelands.

The Rural Fire Service responded to a crash between a car and truck near the Yarra exit at about 9.30am on Wednesday.

The RFS helped to get the truck -- which was loaded with empty coffins-- upright again.

According the RFS, the job was "quite an undertaking", the Gourlburn Post reported.

“We sent two vehicles to the scene from the Goulburn Support Brigade,” an RFS spokesperson said.

“There was no smoke or fire coming from the vehicles and we assisted with the up-righting of the truck as well as cleaning oil off the road."

The NSW Ambulance confirmed nobody was seriously injured in the crash.

“The 50-year-old female driver of the vehicle (not the truck) complained of back pain. There was also an 18-year-old passenger,” a spokesperson said.

“A 32-year-old male truck driver was also assisted, but no one was taken to hospital."

The cause of the crash is not yet known.
