Desperate Search For Man After Child Found Wandering Alone

Police are on the hunt in a missing person case after a 10-year-old boy was found lost and wandering near Glenelg beach just after midnight.

UPDATE: The body of Nischal Ghimire has now been found.

Land, sea and air searches are underway around the popular Adelaide beach for a 22-year-old man who was last seen picking up the child, who he cares for, on Thursday afternoon.

Nischal Ghimire's white Mitsubishi Colt was later located parked nearby the beach, where it's believed he took the child swimming before he disappeared.

The young boy was found by a local resident walking alone on the Esplanade at Glenelg North at about 12:30am on Friday morning.

South Australia police said the child, who was found safe and well, has since been returned to his worried parents.

"The young boy has a disability and is unable to speak, so we are not able to get any information from him as to what actually happened," police told media on Friday.

Ghimire is employed as a carer for the child, police added.

Surf-lifesavers joined police officers including water and PolAir units on Friday morning scouring the area for the missing man.

"We continue to search, we have hope that he can still be found," police said.

A Clarence Park resident of Nepalese background, Ghimire was last seen wearing a t-shirt, long pants and glasses.

Police on Friday told 10 daily that early inquiries suggest the 22-year-old may have gotten into trouble in the water.

Anyone who saw Nischal Ghimire at Glenelg beach or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the police assistance line immediately on 131 444.

Police said there is no indication of foul play.
