Queensland police are investigating the death of a four-month-old baby girl in Logan on Tuesday. The discovery comes the day after a nine-month-old child was found on the Gold Coast on Monday. Police say the four-month-old was taken to Queensland Children's Hospital on Monday with life-threatening injuries where she later died. A woman 35, and a man, 37, are assisting police with their inquiries.

Australian aid organisations have apologised to victims of sexual abuse and harassment after an independent report found 31 cases of misconduct against their workers. The Australia Council for International Development launched the investigation after UK charity Oxfam paid Haiti earthquake survivors for sex. The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine found there were 17 cases of sexual harassment, six of sexual abuse and eight of sexual misconduct by Australian aid workers.
Bali Nine member Renae Lawrence is set to fly back to Australia on Wednesday after her prison sentence for trying to smuggle heroin into Australia expired at midnight Indonesian time. The ABC reports prison officials were not at Bangli prison to free Lawrence at midnight and so she will have to wait to walk free. Lawrence is expected to be taken to sign some official paper work before she is deported. Lawrence will be barred from entering Indonesia in the future.
At least 43 people have been killed in a bomb attack in the Afghan capital Kabul. At least 83 others were injured in the attack against religious groups meeting to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. It's believed nearly 1,000 people were gathered at the hall when the bomb exploded and the attack is being regarded as one of the deadliest in recent months. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A lift in a sky scrapper in the US city of Chicago has fallen 84 floors with six people inside. The lift fell from the 95th floor to the 11th in the building formerly known as the John Hancock Centre early on Friday morning. The six people, including a pregnant woman, managed to call emergency services following the fall and they were rescued three hours later. Emergency officials said a snapped hoist rope caused the fall and cables still attached to the cabin prevented it hitting the ground.
A dead sperm whale has washed up at a national park in Indonesia, where locals discovered the animal had swallowed nearly six kilograms of plastic. Among the items included 115 plastic drinking cups, four plastic bottles, 25 plastic bags and two beach thongs. The dead 9.5 metre animal was found in waters near Kapota Island in the Wakatobi National Park on Monday.
The Socceroos farewelled star player Tim Cahill in style with a 3-0 win over Lebanon in Sydney on Tuesday night. Cahill took the field in the final ten minutes to cheers of support from the crowd, which he said made him very emotional. Cahill also said his final minutes on field as a Socceroo were very proud, as were his years in the team where he represented Australia at four World Cup tournaments.
