Super Saturday: Does Your Polling Booth Come With A Sausage Sizzle?
Voting on a Saturday morning should come with a tasty snack.
It's finally time for the Super Saturday by-elections across Australia, and that means one thing*: voters in Braddon, Longman, Mayo, Perth and Freemantle need a democracy sausage.
Sausage sizzles are the time-honoured tradition of Australian elections, and there's nothing more disappointing** than arriving at your local polling booth only to find yourself without a snag.
If you're one of the thousands of Aussies heading out to vote today, then here's your reminder that you can check ahead of time if your polling booth comes with an election-themed snack.
The Democracy Sausage checker, which maps as many polling booth sausage sizzles as possible, is back up and running.
The good people behind it have mapped 195 sausage sizzles and cake stalls across Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
You can check if your local polling booth comes with snags on the Democracy Sausage website.
Meanwhile, you can follow along with by-elections -- which has both Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten sweating bullets, by the way -- on our live blog here.
*It very clearly does not mean just one thing.
**Presumably it's less disappointing than the candidate you voted for losing, but honestly, the jury's still out on this.
