WATCH: Farmers Rush To Rescue Nearly A Dozen Horses Trapped On Cracking Ice

A farmer shared dramatic footage on social media showing the rescue of 11 female horses that became trapped in an ice hole on a river in Russia's South Ural's Bashkiria region.

The video shows a group of farmers rushing to drag the horses out with ropes one by one using a mechanical loader.

The farmer later said all the horses were successfully saved and did not sustain any injuries. He also said they were lucky to be nearby when the incident occurred in a place that would usually have ice thick enough to cross safely.

He also warned others - especially farmers and fishermen - to be careful around rivers and lakes, adding that the relatively warm winter has caused the ice to be very unstable in many of Russia's regions.
